Test Preparation

Standardized Test Preparation SSAT, PSAT, SAT I & II

The Agency has over twenty-five years experience preparing students for standardized state and national tests, such as SAT I and SAT II, SSAT, and PSAT, used as criteria for private schools, undergraduate and graduate school admissions.

Test preparation tutorials at Beaven & Associates compromise twelve two-hour sessions, renewable and extendable as necessary.

Our Credo
Quick short cuts and clever calculations will not per se raise the standardized test score of a student who lacks a solid background in math and English. A student must make up for deficiencies in these disciplines well in advance of the test date, especially in areas where his schooling has insufficiently challenged him. He needs a deliberate course of study, so as first to learn the requisite fundamentals and then to grapple with a full range of sample problems that hone his reasoning skills to maximum effect. When at last he is strong in his knowledge, he can attack the test with resolve, trusting his intellect rather than the siren song of last minute stratagems.

The above mentioned credo has proven itself over the years to students of the subject-based test preparation tutorials at Beaven & Associates, a significant number of whose graduates have gone on to attend the nation's leading private schools and Ivy League colleges.

GRE, GMAT, LSAT & MCAT Tutoring Services

Since many prospective test-takers of the graduate school entrance exams need help in only a specific section of the exam for which they are preparing (most frequently the quantitative or non-verbal sections), the fee schedule for all parts of the exams other than the two science sections (biological and physical) of the MCAT exam are based on a module framework

Basic Module

Four or six 90 minute sessions, depending on the specific section of the particular exam. One section of the exam – e.g., the analytic reasoning section of the LSAT; the verbal reasoning part of the MCAT – will be examined in detail. The sessions will cover (1) an explanation of what skill sets the section is attempting to measure; (2) the essential methods and principles needed to master for correctly answering the questions; and (3) two practice tests and a thorough explanation of the answers.

Review Module

Two or three 90 minute sessions. These sessions will review the methods and principles for correctly answering the questions and go over a practice test and detailed analysis of the correct answers. This module is designed for those who have already taken the actual exam, performed reasonably well, and are preparing to re-take the exam. Not designed for first time test-takers.

Each session will be conducted one-on-one with the tutor. Under certain circumstances, arrangements can be made for groups of up to three, with some price discount per student.
